As a Client Experience Design Intern, I worked on a range of digital projects across mobile and web platforms. From supporting new feature development to contributing to a paperless campaign, this internship gave me hands-on experience in design communication, collaboration, and user-centered thinking.
Role: Client Experience Design Intern
Skills/Tools: UX/UI, graphic design, Sketch, InVision, Jira
As the Client Experience Design Intern at Sun Life Financial Hong Kong, I worked with senior designers, product managers, developers and the marketing team on projects that led to the creation of new features in Sun Life HK’s digital products, the enhancement of existing experiences, as well as market research projects and facilitating an ideation workshop.
My main responsibility was to support projects related to Sun Life HK’s life and health insurance mobile application and web portal. The projects ranged from the revamp of the client web portal, to the creation of a new feature within the client mobile app, to designing print letters and digital assets for a "go paperless" campaign for statements. I also participated in projects for other digital products and initiatives as well, but due to confidentiality, many of the projects could not be showcased here, however I’ll be happy to talk about my experiences in-person or in an interview; or, please see the link on resume under the Sun Life HK section.
Since this was an internship abroad, adapting to a new environment and responding to unforeseen events to ensure project continuity was a memorable and fun challenge. Throughout this process, I got to practice my design communication skills with stakeholders such as developers and the business team, and found that having more data and research to back up design decisions was very useful in persuading them in adopting my ideas. Because of this extensive practice, I became more confident in pointing out user experience issues and helped change the experience to be more aligned to usability standards.
